Kathy Rinsch | In Memory

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our director, Kathy Rinsch. At just 62, Kathy passed away on Sunday, November 20, 2011, in the comfort of her home.Photo Rinsch Kathy

Kathy joined the Foundation 5 years ago after having retired from North Knox High School, where she taught language arts for 35 years. The Foundation grew tremendously under her leadership. Kathy was instrumental in establishing the Community Foundation's reputation as a formidable endowment serving a wide variety of interests for the betterment of Knox County.

Kathy spearheaded several initiatives on behalf of the Foundation during her tenure, including Target Lasting Change, Sisters in Service, the TRYathalon, the Alumni Basketball Sectional Tourney and perhaps the initiative she might be most proud of: the Youth Inspiring Peers (YIP) annual FRESHenUP conference for high school freshman to advise them and orient them to the potential problems facing them in high school.

Kathy was a well-known and well-respected community advocate. She was known for getting things done and for having an endless supply of energy.

To leave the world better than you found it is such a dream. For Kathy it was a dream come true. Knox County has lost a true visionary. We offer our condolences to friends and family. We are with you not only in sorrow but in celebration of a life well lived.
